Due March 27th

In class we reviewed a complete packet of everything you will need to prepare for your "My Country Presentation". If your student is missing any pages you can click on the "My Country Presentation Resources" button to the right.  
Below are the assignments for this week:    

1. Resources you will need to Research and Prepare for your “My Country Presentation” Planning Tool. Review these sheets (there are 2 pages, in the packet they were printed front and back on a single page.)  with your parents to make sure you and your parents understand the steps you will be taking to prepare for the presentation over the next months. Please bring a copy of this SIGNED BY YOUR PARENT on March 27th. 

2. You should be reading your novel, that is set in your country, every week.  This week you should read at least 2/5 of your novel.

3. Print and fill out the "Worksheet to record Historical Fiction Summaries". Write short summaries of each chapter that you have read in the spaces provided. Write facts that you learned about your country in the boxes titled Country Facts.
NOTE: This is a generic handout that has up to 20 chapters. You only need to print the pages the include the number of chapters in your book.

4. Complete pages 1, 3, & 4 (The World and My Country, Just the Facts, and the Country Flag) of your “My Country Notebook.”

5. Complete a rough draft of your country map. In addition to the items listed on page 2 of yourMy Country Notebook” each of you should identify the following on your map:
  • 2-4 geographic features (mountains, plateaus, rivers of importance, volcanoes- etc.  As you research your country you will discover many of these. Choose the most significant and important to include on your map).
  • 1-2 Major Historic Landmarks -An Historic Landmark is a building, site, structure, or object that is officially recognized by your countries government for its outstanding degree of historical significance (like the Taj Mahal in India).  Be sure to list these on your map key and be sure you know the importance of each! 
Below are links to blank maps for each student's country. You may use these blank maps as a reference to draw your own blank country outline, or you may create your map directly on the printed page.

6. Each presentation will need to have at least ONE TEACHING AID.  Read the many teaching aid ideas in purple print on the first page of the Resources you will need to Research and Prepare for your “My Country Presentation” Planning Tool.. Write down your idea or ideas for your Teaching Aid and bring it to class for approval.
