1. You will be writing a story over the next 2-3 months. I am so excited that you will eventually publish that story in a Short Story Collection for our whole class!
In class, I handed out a workbook that has the first "thought pages" for your story. We started those in class. Please complete the CHARACTER PAGES 14-17. You may have someone help write down your ideas as you tell them or you may fill out the pages yourself. Remember: this is brave writing time and we are focusing on the story, not on spelling or punctuation. Have fun and create some great characters!
(Parents, this is a great time to let your child create his or her very own story. You may share ideas but please allow them to feel free to choose their own story path - it is their creativity we are trying to unleash! If you are writing the story down for your child, listen carefully and record their thoughts. In a few months, when we move from the STORY mode to the editing mode, we will need your help. At that point you will be able to use your child's story editing to reinforce any spelling, grammar or punctuation lessons you may want to teach! They will also need help from you or a sibling to type their story for publication - but that is months away! Please text or call me at 210-865-3309 if you have any questions!
2. We will need this book by December 1st, so you have lots of time to get it. It is available from Amazon (used only) Shadrach by Meindert DeJong:

3. Did you like the book 100 Dresses? Some of you asked for book recommendations. I recommend any other books by Eleanor Estes! Here are some of my favorites if you are wanting more to read (this is NOT an assignment! Just a response to the students request for good books to read!):
