  • Below are the assignments for this week:

0.  Catch up - most of you completed all of the assignments for last week but a few of you did not.  If you are behind, please complete last weeks homework first!

1. This week you should read at least 3/5 of your novel set in your country.

2. Fill out the "Worksheet to record Historical Fiction Summaries". Write short summaries of the chapters that you have read this week in the spaces provided. Write facts that you learned about your country in the boxes titled Country Facts.

3Complete pages 5 & 6 (Very Important Citizen & Interesting Animal) of your “My Country Notebook.”

4. Complete the cover of your “My Country Notebook.” Follow the instructions on the "Instructions for Your Cover" page. Make sure your cover is neat and attractive.
NOTE-  To ensure neatness, you may want to print a black and white or low quality cover page to experiment on first, and then print a color copy to use for your final cover.

5. Create a final map of your country.
(NOTE- Remember that in addition to the items listed on page 2 of your “My Country Notebook” each of you should identify the following on your map:
  • 2-4 geographic features (mountains, plateaus, rivers of importance, volcanoes- etc.  As you research your country you will discover many of these. Choose the most significant and important to include on your map).
  • 1-2 Major Historic Landmarks -An Historic Landmark is a building, site, structure, or object that is officially recognized by your countries government for its outstanding degree of historical significance (like the Taj Mahal in India).  Be sure to list these on your map key and be sure you know the importance of each!
Below are links to blank maps for each student's country. You may use these blank maps as a reference to draw your own blank country outline, or you may create your map directly on the printed page.
