Homework Due December 8th.

1. Time to start writing! Now you have your story idea I want you to spend 2 days this week writing. You should write for 10-15 minutes each time. If you would rather tell your story to a parent and have them type or write you may do that but the story must be wholly yours! No editing at this phase of writing. Bring your writing to class on Friday.
2. You should get through the "Inciting Incident" in your writing this week. Introduce your characters and write about the first major event. Remember the Inciting Incident launches your character(s) on their adventure towards getting (or losing) what they want more than anything else in the world.

EXAMPLE: In finding Nemo the inciting incident is when Nemo is captured by the diver. This incident launches Nemo on his journey to become a capable grown up (fish :)) and to reunite with his father. This incident launches his father on his quest to find and rescue Nemo.

In the Lion King the Inciting Incident is when Mufasa dies, trying to save Simba from the stampede. Though the audience knows that Scar is responsible for his death, Scar makes Simba believe it was Simba's fault sending Simba on his journey to discover his real identity - killer or king.

What is YOUR inciting incident and how does it launch your main character on his/her journey to get or lose what he/she most wants?
