We are beginning a final project for the year! You will be doing a
"20th Century Biography Lapbook and Presentation".
You will each choose an important person in 20th Century History, check out a BIOGRAPHY of that person from the library, read the biography and create a LAPBOOK PRESENTATION. The final presentation is due May 20th. Each week for the next 6 weeks you will have specific assignments to complete that will help you be prepared to present on the 20th!
This week do the following:
1. Click and read this list of Important 20th Century Leaders. Choose one leader and text Mrs. Elzinga to request that person (the assignment of biographies is first come first served! If you don't text me today you should probably have a backup person selected! )
Text Mrs. Elzinga at 210-865-3309 - be sure to tell me who is texting and the person you have chosen!
There are books listed in the document above that you might order from the library, but you may choose ANY BOOK your parent approves as your main biography.
(NOTE: You may choose anyone on the list OR you may suggest your own person. Your person should have a significant role in the COLD WAR, CIVIL RIGHTS, the SPACE RACE, or the 20th Century MIDDLE EAST CONFLICT. Your choice must be approved!)
2. Go to the LIBRARY (today or tomorrow, if possible!) and check out at least 2 biographies of your person. You will need to read one biography from beginning to end (this is your MAIN biography) so make sure to choose one that is right at your reading level. The other biography you can skim or read interesting parts to make sure you have access to lots of information about your person.
3. Read at least 1/2 of your biography.
4. BRING YOUR BOOKS TO CLASS!
5. In class this week I will give your your lapbook workbook with each assignment for the next 6 weeks! We will even begin your lapbook!
